 Once you’re well-rested, get your blood flowing with a free fitness class at Athleta. Empowering women and encouraging them to take on a more active lifestyle has been central to the brand since its founding, and their free community fitness classes are part and parcel of that ethos. To give you an idea of what to expect, a recent yoga event featured FitPro Tess Jonas accompanied by DJ Julie Bobek. Hudson Yards Grill showcases brasserie fare prepared by native New Yorker and chef Michael Lomonaco in his new “American concept” restaurant. $10 classic cocktails with new twists, like the Lavender Margarita, $5 drafts, and $6 wines are served alongside bar snacks of mixed nuts and wasabi peas. Just don’t fill up with those deliciously salty munchies right away. Burgers, a sushi bar, prime cuts of meat, and daily specials await. He picked the lineup of chefs for the brunch, which includes Anita Lo and Dale Talde. If you’ve ever watched Zakarian as a judge on “Chopped,” you know his taste is top-notch, so your experience will be, too. This is sure to be a culinary afternoon to remember. 

Prefer a little more flair — and a little shade — with your pancakes? Head over to the Highline Stages where you can experience what promises to be the most “fabulous” of meals. At Barilla’s Drag Brunch, presented by Absolut Juice, a squad of drag performers takes the stage to dazzle you while you sip your mimosa. With guests like Downtown nightlife staple Joey Arias and host Debi Mazar, you’re sure to be entertained. There will be dancing. There will be donuts. There will be decadence. What more could you want on a Saturday?

The next day, Sunday, Oct. 13, offers more chances to experience some spectacular food and entertainment. Go ahead and sing along with Tony Award nominee Alex Brightman at Four Roses Bourbon’s Broadway Tastes at Metropolitan West. Just make sure you’ve finished that bite of bacon first. With fan favorites Big Daddy’s, The Flying V food truck, and the world-famous Sylvia’s soul food restaurant on hand to create their best Broadway-themed dishes, you’ll be the one singing their praises.

Oysters might not be quite as flashy as Broadway performers, but at the Oyster Bash, they steal the show. Learn how to shuck your own at The Standard High Line, or skip the hassle and try samples from some of New York’s finest restaurants, such as Docks Oyster Bar and The Standard Grill. Wash it all down with bottomless beer, wine, and cocktails.

This is just a sample of the fun that awaits festival-goers. Other events include a pizza tasting, a dumpling tasting, and an epic brunch finale featuring 30 restaurants. So get out there and eat, New York! You owe it to yourself to make all your brunch fantasies come true. And eating waffles while you raise money to end hunger? That sounds like a delicious combo, indeed. 

Recently, residents at 555TEN enjoyed a spread of delectable hors d’oeuvres and tantalizing rosé wines in the sky-high residents’ lounge as part of the building’s Rosé Hour event. Parcelle Wine, a local purveyor of fine vino, provided the bottles, which included offerings from California, France, and Italy, all 2018 vintage, while 555TEN provided the gorgeous setting — the spacious 56th floor lounge that looks out at the Midtown skyline.

Residents of these Midtown West apartments, glasses in hand, took in the spectacular views from inside or from the adjacent private deck, and met or caught up with their neighbors. The wines ⁠— Lorenza Rosé from California, Moulin de Gassac “Guilhem” Rosé from France, and Mount Herman Rosé from Italy — were paired with tasty bites, including soft and hard cheeses, fresh fruit, guacamole and chips, pretzels (chocolate-dipped and plain), breads, and even a bowl of miniature cinnamon rolls.

The location, the 56th floor lounge at 555TEN, is a common area adjacent to the open-air deck, which features an outdoor pool and a combined indoor/outdoor fireplace. While no logs were burning during the Rosé Hour, residents took advantage of the warm weather and strolled around the deck with their glasses and plates, taking in intimate views of the nearby towers, including those at Hudson Yards.

Parcelle Wine, which provided the event’s selection of rosés, is located just around the corner from 555TEN and features a rotating selection, refreshed monthly, of the finest wines. Parcelle Wine is the first retail project from the folks behind the popular Manhattan restaurant Charlie Bird, and their team seeks to bring the restaurant’s high level of curated quality to the new storefront. If the wines at 555TEN’s Rosé Hour were any indication, residents are fortunate to live so close to the shop.

As the event wound down, residents returned to their Midtown West apartments elsewhere in the building. Homes at 555TEN range in size from lofts to three bedrooms and feature high-end finishes in the resident’s choice of color scheme. From April through October, you can come to the High Line where the Amateur Astronomers Association of New York will be on hand to guide you in your exploration of our galaxy. The evening is free and requires no RSVP. Simply show up when the sun goes down and prepare to see true wonders: Saturn’s rings, the stormy eye of Jupiter, or even an assortment of comets making their way through our solar system on their travels through distant space. In the process, you’ll discover facts about space and its effects on our own terrestrial existence. You’ll also learn how to spot common constellations in the night sky, find planets and learn the best times to see them with the naked eye, and get tips on how to make the most of your own stargazing — with or without a telescope. Come early or late, for what’s visible can change depending upon the time of evening and weather conditions.

Use the rest of your night to enjoy the many pleasures of the High Line. Bring along someone special, and look skyward together, picking out celestial bodies that you were taught to spot earlier in the night. If clouds block the view, the High Line and its gardens are more than just a consolation: They are their own prize. Flowers and various plants bloom and grow in orchestrated plots throughout the season, offering a glimpse of flora native to Manhattan and the region. Or, you may stumble upon a summer or fall festival, a talk, or other events focused on music, the written word, or visual art. The High Line is more than a park, and no matter when or how you explore it, there’s always something new to see and discover.
