Your Own Backyard at Hudson Yards

Living at 555TEN means never being far from the action. Hudson Yards, one of the
city’s most successful shopping and entertainment developments, is just 10 minutes
south of these Midtown luxury rentals, putting world-class stores right in the residents’
backyard. Best of all, Hudson Yards transforms into an outdoor entertainment space
during the summer — Backyard at Hudson Yards — complete with free concerts, film
and sports screenings, and a rotating lineup of food and activities. Keep reading for a
rundown of everything that’s happening at Hudson Yards this summer!

Home to the iconic sculpture known as the Vessel, Hudson Yards combines a traditional
shopping mall with an arts center and public square. The eye-catching Shed theater
features a dynamic polymer roof that retracts to turn the venue into an outdoor
performance space, while Edge is the city’s highest outdoor observation deck. And at
The Shops at Hudson Yards, you’ll find name-brand retailers and high-end boutiques
designed to create a comprehensive shopping experience.

This summer, Hudson Yards teams up with Wells Fargo to host a series of free concerts
to celebrate the city’s vibrant musical culture. On July 20, synthpop sensation Daya will
take to the Backyard at Hudson Yards stage to energize the crowd with her beat-heavy
tunes. One week later, New York’s own indie ensemble MICHELLE will play a set of
their heartfelt music in a show that’s sure to win them a new cohort of fans. All the while,
concertgoers will be able to enjoy food from a selection of food and drink vendors,
anchored by Hudson Yards’ own Jibs seafood restaurant.

For New Yorkers with a mind for sport, the Backyard is home to a massive 30-foot
screen dubbed, appropriately, The Big Screen, on which visitors will find every type of
sporting event imaginable, from the Grand Slam tennis tournaments to the MLB All-Star
Game and more. If you prefer working up a sweat to watching athletes doing that, head
to the Backyard for one of the Power Hour SoulCycle classes. Come fall, the Backyard
will open up for cinephiles with its Movie Nights, with the first screening taking place on
Sept. 15.

There’s truly something for everyone at the Backyard at Hudson Yards this summer and
fall. For more info, head to the Hudson Yards Events Page. And if you’re in the market

The Shops and Restaurants at Hudson Yards

Hudson Yards, which has been called “the neighborhood of the future” by Fast Company, features The Shops and Restaurants at Hudson Yards, a luxury mall that contains 1 million square feet of space, with 750,000 of those feet dedicated to high-end retail alone. It’s the kind of place where you can make a day of it—and residents of the Midtown rentals at 555TEN who live a short walk from this new iconic NYC site can do just that any day of the week.

Start your day with breakfast at Bluestone Lane, where the Aussie-inspired sensibility infuses everything from the coffee beans to the strikingly inviting decor. In a space designed by Fahey Design Build, you’ll find a wall of turquoise tiles enveloping customers in a glossy reminder of the sea, along with blond wood and brass doors. Pair your flat white with their signature avocado smash featuring sheep’s milk feta and heirloom tomatoes, and you will have set the tone for your Hudson Yards staycation.

There won’t be enough time to hit all the stores you want to in just one day, but you can start making a mental map for your next visit as you go. If you’re in search of the perfect look for your Manhattan West luxury rental at 555TEN, Herman Miller is a great place to find furniture and decor by a midcentury designer who has so rightfully achieved iconic status.

Muji brings you the ingenuity of Japanese design for everything from t-shirts to bean bags and kitchenware. Shop a New York baking icon and grab one of the world’s best black and white cookies at William Greenberg Desserts. For another angle on a world-famous baked treat, Magnolia Bakery is the place to snack on a buttercream-topped cupcake—and the place whose number you’ll want to keep in your contacts for future birthdays.

Assemble your summer wardrobe with statement pieces from Dior, Kate Spade, Tory Burch, Dunhill, and Crémieux. Shop for all of your little one’s needs at Borobabi, the first retail childrenswear store to offer credits on outgrown items.

When you need an afternoon coffee break, you can stop by Blue Bottle coffee. For a full-on lunch or dinner, you can choose from critically acclaimed restaurants like Wild Ink and Lena at Mercado Little Spain, where most of the food is cooked over embers, creating unparalleled flavor for dishes like the charcoal-roasted Spanish octopus or the Iberico pork shoulder—each of which is worth the trip to Hudson Yards alone.

At Hudson Yards, the best of the best designed architectural marvels to change the way we think of recreation in the city. For the residents of the nearby no-fee luxury rentals at 555TEN, the shopping and dining options are just one part of a whole new NYC neighborhood they can call their own. Getting Around NYC From 555TEN

The Midtown West luxury rentals at 555TEN get some of their appeal simply by being at the center of New York City’s action. With proximity to Broadway and world-class museums, Michelin-starred restaurants and beloved food carts patronized by foodies in the know, and, of course, the beating green heart of New York City, Central Park, 555TEN residents are close to many of the city’s more enduring attractions. In addition to all of this, residents have under (and atop) the 555TEN roof every conceivable amenity — including a fitness center with an indoor saltwater pool, a bowling alley, an arcade, a dog park and on-site pet care, and a rooftop pool and sundeck with cabanas — so there’s never any need to venture far from home.

But with the return to the office picking up steam, as well as other more festive activities, like visiting friends in the outer boroughs or trying new Downtown restaurants, commuting around town is back on everyone’s minds. Of course, it’s always possible to call a car or hail a cab from the curb to get from point A to point B. But during the summer months, there’s no method of transportation more pleasurable than a bike ride through the city. Residents with their own bikes can take advantage of 555TEN’s fully equipped indoor bike service station and storage. But these Midtown rentals are also close to multiple Citi Bike stations, making the commute from the West Side of Manhattan to any part of the city a breeze.

With Citi Bike in town, it’s easy to make a quick crosstown trip to the office in the morning, slicing through the rush hour commute. Residents can also take advantage of their proximity to the Hudson River Greenway to enjoy more than 12 miles of spectacular Hudson River views, as well as several of Manhattan’s most beloved parks — from Inwood Hill Park down to The Battery — with ample greenery and rest stops along the way. Best of all, this scenic route provides separate, dedicated paths for pedestrians and bicyclists to keep everyone safe.

When biking isn’t in the cards, the subway is ready 24/7 to take you where you want to go. And 555TEN is only a few blocks from almost every New York City subway line, so you can easily make your way around Manhattan or get to the outer boroughs. These luxury New York rentals are also near to a host of bus routes and offer easy access to Amtrak, New Jersey Transit, and the Long Island Railroad for adventures outside of the city.

With all these options available for getting around the town, or to escape it for a summer day trip, 555TEN residents will have no trouble leaving the comforts and luxuries of home for their New York City adventures — that is, if they actually want to leave.

Neighborhood Spotlight: Hell’s Kitchen

Hell’s Kitchen is a devilishly wonderful place to rent an apartment. This Midtown Manhattan neighborhood brims over with brilliant dining and drinking destinations and cultural institutions—not to mention top-class schools and commuting links. Here’s an amuse-bouche of what you’ll find on the doorstep of your luxury apartment at 555TEN.

The Culture

You could fill a thousand weekends with the glut of cultural happenings in Hell’s Kitchen. Report for duty at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, which is based aboard the World War II aircraft carrier “Intrepid,” and peer into the cockpit of F-14s and space shuttles. (You can visit for free on select Fridays.) In need of a soothing stroll? The High Line—located on a disused elevated railway—is one of the world’s most unique parks (plus the views of NYC and the Hudson from up here are something else). As for culture after dark, take the short stroll from your Midtown West apartment to Birdland Jazz Club, where heads have been nodding to noodling jams since 1949.

The Drink and Dining Scene

In this part of NYC’s Midtown West, you’re never far from a decent drink. Pull up a stool at Hellcat Annie’s and taste your way through a dizzying array of local craft beers. For sophisticated sips, check into the sleek deco surrounds of Ada’s Place and sample the Japanese single malts. When it’s time to eat, devour buttermilk pancakes and bubbles for brunch on the rooftop patio at Social Drink & Food. Have lunch at Friedman’s Hell’s Kitchen, featuring food for the soul like matzo ball soup and grilled pastrami Reuben. Or do things in style for dinner with Michelin-starred haute cuisine at Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare.

The All-Important Practicalities

As far as fun’s concerned, this part of Midtown West has you well covered. But what about the practicalities? Hell’s Kitchen has this in spades too. By public transport from 555TEN, it’s just 30 minutes to Wall Street, 40 minutes to Jersey City, and a breezy 25-minute stroll to Rockefeller Center. Got a furry friend who’s always demanding walkies? DeWitt Clinton Park, which is a comfortable 15-minute walk from the luxury apartments at 555TEN, has designated dog runs. GoodMigrations also says there are 14 schools, 60 grocery stores and markets, and more than 800 shops in the neighborhood. Oh, and did we mention that, with its leafy streets, 19th-century architecture, and preservation areas, Hell’s Kitchen is rather beautiful too?

With summer right around the corner, nothing seems more appealing than lounging, sipping a refreshing cocktail, and generally feeling like you are on top of the world. For residents of the Midtown West luxury rentals at 555TEN, summer days and nights on the rooftop club and bar, 56 floors and about 650 feet above the city streets, are beckoning. Though residents can enjoy the rooftop club year-round—with its indoor and outdoor fireplaces—its pool and sundeck with private cabanas and chaise lounges for, well, lounging, are just what the warm weather calls for. And with clear nights and skies, the sweeping panoramic views are all the more alluring for all of the season’s best recreation and relaxation.

But if 555TEN residents are looking to venture from home, a new addition to the neighborhood—the rooftop Peakaboo bar—will check all the boxes for an ideal summer night out. Housed on the 101st floor of 20 Hudson Yards—one floor above Edge, the Western Hemisphere’s highest outdoor observation deck—this late-night cocktail bar boasts some of the city’s most impressive views, framed through dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows. The interiors themselves are a feast for the eyes, with designs by David Rockwell and the Rockwell Group, centered along a sleek gray marble bar behind which are 200 bottles of high-end liquors.

Peakaboo is, after all, a serious destination for drink lovers and oenophiles alike. Drinks are curated by Zach Kameron and Kon Kraus, including a serious 1,400-bottle wine list, with luxury champagne selections and bottle service for top-shelf liquors, in addition to a collection of expertly crafted cocktails. The drink menu is complemented by decadent bar snacks—like oysters, caviar, and truffle tarts.

Guests of Peakaboo may have already experienced the attention to design and the drink selection at its companion restaurant, Peak. This restaurant, bar, and event space transforms into Peakaboo after 10:30 pm from Thursday to Saturday nights—and with music from New York’s best DJs, it promises to be an exclusive late-night destination to be seen and to enjoy the best of the city. For 555TEN residents, that means the summer’s finest views and lounging are just a close walk from home. To learn more about all your options at 555TEN, contact our leasing team.

The High Line to Stretch North With a Pair of New Bridges

Plans recently unveiled by Gov. Kathy Hochul will extend the elevated High Line park all the way to the Moynihan Train Hall in Midtown. The pair of pedestrian bridges that make up the project will allow New Yorkers and visitors alike to travel all the way from the Whitney Museum of American Art to the newly built train hall without descending to street level, all while enjoying greenery and intimate sights throughout Chelsea. And, of course, the new connection will begin just a few blocks south of the Midtown rentals at 555TEN, bringing this unique transportation corridor that much closer to these luxury homes. Keep reading to learn more about this exciting plan.

Initially announced by Gov. Andrew Cuomo last year as part of an ambitious Midtown West redevelopment scheme, the High Line Moynihan Connector is the result of a public-private partnership between Empire State Development, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Brookfield Properties Group, and Friends of the High Line. Together, these groups tapped architects Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and the landscape architects at Field Operations to create two distinct bridges: a Woodlands Bridge running parallel with 30th Street and a Timber Bridge that will connect the Woodlands Bridge with the Moynihan Train Hall.

As the names suggest, the two bridges will feature different yet complementary aesthetics. The Woodlands Bridge will be planted with lush greenery akin to the densest stretches of the High Line itself, while the Timber Bridge will feature a more spartan look as it takes people over traffic to the Magnolia Court passageway that runs through Brookfield Properties’ Manhattan West megadevelopment. Together, the new bridges will stretch 1,200 feet to connect the High Line, Moynihan Train Hall, and Hudson Yards — tying together disparate aspects of Midtown West’s recent development while celebrating the successful High Line linear park concept and expanding it into a new neighborhood.

For residents of 555TEN, the new bridges will bring the elevated pathways currently snaking up and down Manhattan’s West Side quite a bit closer, helping connect Midtown West with more southerly neighborhoods. Soon, 555TEN residents will be able to traverse a few short blocks before ascending to the elevated passage and making their way to Chelsea Market and beyond without touching the street.

If you’re looking to put yourself at the center of the action in Midtown West, head to the 555TEN availability page to see the NYC luxury rentals that are waiting for you.

The Edge: Overlooking Hudson Yards and Beyond

With the legendary skyline just outside your window, living in Manhattan often feels like living on top of the world. Known for its superlatives — a world capital of culture, nightlife, fine dining, and everyday excitement — New York City is home to some of the world’s most recognizable architectural landmarks, from the Brooklyn Bridge to the Empire State Building, not to mention its famed green spaces, including the High Line and Central Park. A recent addition to the pantheon of the city’s architectural wonders is the skyscraper at 30 Hudson Yards and its “dance” partner, 10 Hudson Yards. Designed by acclaimed architects Bill Pedersen and John Pedersen, 30 Hudson Yards is just moments from the Midtown Manhattan apartments at 555TEN and offers a uniquely exciting attraction: Edge, a new public observation deck on the building’s 100th floor.

Residents of 555TEN have access at home to a rooftop 56 stories up, which boasts a private residents lounge, an indoor/outdoor fireplace, an open-air sundeck, private cabanas, and a swimming pool — all 650 feet above Midtown West. But for those seeking out even loftier perches, Edge soars 1,131 feet into the sky. In fact, it’s the highest outdoor observation deck in the Western Hemisphere, offering mesmerizing panoramic views of the East River, the Hudson River to the west, and nearly all of the city’s landmarks. The 80-foot public deck is a triangular wedge that protrudes from the side of 30 Hudson Yards, and, as its name suggests, creates the feeling of being at the edge of a vast precipice, suspended in midair, in the midst of the clouds.

Those wary of heights, and the feeling of floating high above the city below, can rest assured knowing Edge is a sturdy 765,000-pound platform, which comprises 15 individual sections bolted together and attached to both the southern and eastern sides of 30 Hudson Yards. Of course, leaning into the view against the angled glass wall enclosures is part of the thrill of experiencing Edge. For the truly adventurous, City Climb at Edge offers the world’s highest open-air building ascent along the 45-degree angled staircase that crowns 30 Hudson Yards. At the top, climbers can lean out (while securely strapped and buckled in) and take in the views below. And after the climb, visitors can toast with a glass of Champagne and take in the most spectacular sunset views in the city.

Whether poolside at home or at nearby 30 Hudson Yards and Edge, 555TEN residents can sit atop the city and feel truly on top of the world.

Restaurant Spotlight: Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare

Take one look at the Instagram feed for Chef’s Table at Brooklyn Fare, and you might think you’ve landed on the account of a contemporary art museum. Pink and pinker cubes of bluefin tuna and Japanese hamachi form pyramids on a thin wisp of a tart. A tiramisu on a ceramic-industrial pedestal looks like a Louise Bourgeois or a Yayoi Kusama — and if these creations by star chef César Ramirez look like works of art, the accolades that Ramirez keeps attracting attest to the fact that they taste even better than they look.

While Ramirez is racking up awards — like three stars from the world-famous Michelin Guide or the No. 2 spot on OAD’s list of the 150 top restaurants in North America — residents of the NYC luxury rentals at 555TEN in Manhattan can venture over to his rarified exposed kitchen behind the Brooklyn Fare grocery store without leaving their neighborhood.

The setup is a 20-seat counter where you can dine on Ramirez’s French-inflected Japanese-inspired tasting menu, which changes with the seasons and the inspirations of the kitchen. On a given night, you might encounter trout roe tartlet, chawanmushi with foie gras, Hokkaido uni with black truffle, Miyazaki Wagyu with daikon and horseradish, white truffle ice cream, or a frozen soufflé.

Ramirez will be present, cooking behind the counter, announcing the dishes as they come out, and chatting with guests. Ryan Sutton of Eater, who has crowned the restaurant “your four-star Per Se replacement,” finds Ramirez as affable as he is talented, a true artist satisfying his diners’ craving for innovation, as well as their palates.

Of this unparalleled New York gastronomic experience, Adam Platt of New York Magazine writes, “It’s a pleasure to watch the chef and his crack staff turn out a 20th century-style gourmet dinner (you’ll find barely cooked lobster on the menu, truffles upon truffles, A5-grade beef flown in from Japan) with a kind of practiced, even balletlike grace.” Critics are raving not only about the food but about the inherent drama of the experience, which, as Sutton has noted, is quickly becoming a New York classic.

The restaurant’s Hell’s Kitchen location, behind the Brooklyn Fare grocery store, harkens back to the original restaurant and grocery location in Brooklyn. This means two things if you are a resident of the 555TEN luxury rentals in Manhattan: The first is that you can peruse the aisles before settling in for dinner, and the second is that you can find inspiration at one of the city’s most masterfully curated food stores any night of the week. Like the no-fee luxury rentals at 555TEN, Brooklyn Fare is changing what it means to live your best life in New York.
